Okay, so it’s only TWO PAGES, but it’s a start. I was flipping through my copy of the October edition of EGM during some quiet time on the John and I would have crapped my pants were it not for my convenient situation. What do I see? A column by Jeff Green, former editor in chief of CGW and GFW magazines. Apparently it’s a new feature, and one that I think has been a long time coming. I believe that part of the perception problem of the state of PC gaming stems from the fact that so many publications (both online and in ye olde style print) are segregated. I’m so happy to see this happening and I hope CGW-branded columns show up more and more in EGM.

Here’s a photo; I blurred out the text as a precaution. Everybody should go buy this issue and send Jeff an e-mail thanking/congratulating him for having a presence in a previously console-only magazine!

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of new and interesting ways of interacting with music in video game form. That’s why I’m eager to share this video. It’s from another episode of The 1UP Show that was released a few weeks ago. It’s just the one segment of a full episode, but this in particular is what I wanted to share.

The video is of an interview with two developers of a Nintendo DS application called KORG DS-10. It’s a full-blown synthesizer for your DS that allows you to create entire songs that you can output to external mixers and even save to the flash cart. As I am a huge fan of 8-bit music and especially music that is generated using GameBoy systems (pornophonique, anyone?), this application is quite relevant to my interests! I have read in a couple of places that this will be coming to the States at some point, but in the video they are unsure. I don’t know who to believe, but I’ll import it if I have to. I’m pretty sure it’s coming out in July.

Yes I myself will admit, I love anime. Which leads me to my next announcement that yes I’ll be walkin’ the grounds of the Anime Expo here in Southern California this year. I’ve been gearing up for it for the past couple of weeks. Hence no comics. But I do have some works in progresses I’m happy to show off. So here’s to be excited to heading to an event like no other, filled with Cosplay! Oh I will be taking pictures and will be walking around, so if you see me this weekend. Don’t forget to come give me a hug or a greeting. We’ll snap a shot of you and let everyone know you’re a DoSu fan (Hopefully that’s less incriminating than it sounded). Anyways here’s some more WIP’s.

New on the DS this week is a neat looking game that I hadn’t heard about until today by the name of Soul Bubbles. It doesn’t seem like the type of game that will be getting a whole lot of attention from the enthusiast press, so I don’t feel bad about throwing this Developer’s Overview video up here. Give it a look, for some reason I felt really relaxed after watching it and wanted to share. I hope you enjoy it too, I am looking forward to trying this game out.

Every week I usually can’t wait to watch a new episode of The 1UP Show. For this week and the last they’ve been running “special” episodes; I put this weeks’ episode off for a couple of days, but I just now finished watching it and I couldn’t help but to rush here and share it. As much as I’ve come to dislike recycling content here, this must be seen!

This weeks’ episode is 40 minutes of a dinner meeting between Mark MacDonald (Editor: EGM), Erik Wolpaw (Writer: Portal), Dylan Cuthbert (President: Q Games) and Jonathan Mak (Creator: Everyday Shooter). This video is utterly fascinating. If you’ve never thought of game designers as artists, or of games as art, and these discussions don’t make you think twice about your stance, I can’t help you. The designers give insights into their varrying creative processes, talk of their past projects and even their gaming habits and what it’s like to play a game as a designer. Please, do yourself a favor and give this a watch. Also, feel free to comment with your thoughts and if I should keep posting things like this or not.

I’m in the middle of setting up all my computer components on the new computer and ironing out issues. I’m not suave enough to have made a comic ahead of time as I’ve been installing other things around the house (‘Blu-ray’ player, new sound system, Death Ray, etc). So I’ll be skipping this week with all kinds of new content next week. Until then!

blu ray logoSo after a lot of talk about just waiting for digital download, I went and got a Blu-ray Disc Player. It apparently converts normal DVDs up to a higher quality. Well I’ll find out soon enough. So now we have a DVD player/burner and VHS all in one, and then a Blu-ray player. Everything runs off of HDMI cables. Watching movies on the big screen is about to get a whole lot sweeter in this house. I’ll let everyone out there in HD-land know how it looks as soon as I get it hooked up and try out a Blu-ray disc and a DVD on it.
