It's bundled with Linux because it's the only true open source browser of the bunch. (Chrome is close, but its primary development platform has always been Windows) I appreciate what Firefox is and its advantages, but as a user Opera has satisfied my needs better. However, I regularly use Opera, Firefox, and Chrome at different times for different activities. This has kept me familiar and active with the software, which is important to me. I listed Firefox first because it's my standard recommendation. Chrome is encroaching on all fronts, though. I think its GUI is the sexiest of the bunch.

I modified that part of the FAQ to be more clear.

As far as the other two, Safari is feature-poor and IE is severely lacking in standards.

I disagree. Firefox has a more pleasing GUI than Opera. Not knocking Opera, it runs nice on older systems, whereas Firefox does not. However, Firefox is the superior browser whether against Internet Explorer, Opera, Google Chrome or whatever. Why else would it come bundled with just about every Linux Distro out there?
